From time to time Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida participates in events to increase awareness of Scottie rescue and familiarize the public with Scottish Terriers. Our upcoming events will be listed below.
We are so excited! Our Florida Scottie breed club, Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay (STCTB) has been selected to host the 2024 Scottish Terrier national rotating specialty show. This is both a great honor and a wonderful opportunity to highlight Scotties!
The show brings folks and their dogs from around the country and Canada. It will be a weekend of beautiful dogs, fun events and socializing with friends old and new. We have activities planned for all our Scottie’s- show dogs and couch dogs alike- and a special rescue parade.
The theme is Olympics, Scottie Style- "Mingle for the Medals" (a nod to the summer Olympics occurring in 2024).
Several Scottie-loving groups are collaborating to plan and carry out this fun event, including:
Scottish Terrier Club of America (STCA)
Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay (STCTB)
Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida (STROF)
STCA Health Trust Fund
There will be lots to do- jobs big and small for which we will need many volunteers. We're looking forward to a strong showing of Scotties and their pawrents in Ocala, Florida at beautiful World Equestrian Center (WEC). More information will be posted as it becomes available in monthly "countdown to the Scottie Olympics" posts on our website and Facebook, and those of our partners.
Please plan to get involved, and spread the word about the upcoming events to Scottie lovers and friends far and wide!
Scotties and their pawrents alike all had a great time at the STCTB annual spring picnic on Saturday, April 15th at Dade Battlefield Historic Park in Bushnell, Florida. There were 34 Scottie people and 20 Scotties in attendance on this beautiful Florida day. It included a pot-luck style meal, individual pet portraits taken by member Mitchell O'Rear, lure course runs, a brief membership update meeting, raffles and club merchandise sales, games and a boutique table. Dawn Dayringer's Emma had the fastest lure course time of the day, and Board member Colleen Rafatti won the door prize raffle. Great fun was had by all!

Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida volunteers and their Scotties turned out in force to represent rescue Scotties at the Highlands Festival Parade in Dunedin on March 31, 2023! Many of our sweet Scotties and their pawrents were decked out in Scottish plaid and kilts, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The following STROF rescue volunteers and adopters participated:
Thank you to all the volunteers who participated for helping to make this event a great success!
Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida volunteers and their Scotties participated in a recent event to support Cindy's Pets. Cindy’s Pets Volunteers organize an annual fundraiser; the proceeds from this event, in conjunction with other donations, are used to purchase pet food. Cindy’s Pets volunteers purchase, pack and deliver pet food to the homes of Senior citizens in both East and West Pasco County each month. Currently, the group delivers 2,000 pounds of cat, dog and bird food to over 400 pets each month.
STROF volunteers who set up and staffed the booth at the Festival included Dawn Dayringer (and her Scottie Emma), Diane Goodreau (with cool and calm rescue Scottie Finley), Barry and Marianne Kreiling (with their Scottie Sadie), Cherly Holbrook (with her rescue Scottie Sonnet), Casey Kellman and her friend Nita, Marty Happel and Jill Collins, Sandy and George Rentovich, Gail (Food & Beverage Manager of the Hacienda Hotel), and Dawn Dayringer's sisters, Nita and Judi! It was truly an interesting time keeping the three Scottie girls in line- each of whom wanted to be "top dog"! Approximately $100 was raised at our booth to support STROF.
Thank you to all the volunteers, exhibitors, and donors who participated for helping to make this event a great success!
Scottish Terrier Rescue of Florida volunteers and their Scotties, along with members of the Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay, participated in the Mardi Gras Dog Parade and Festival in Deland, Florida on February 18th, 2023.
A total of 26 Scottie owners, 4 helpers and 22 Scottie dogs participated. We were led down the parade route by a colorful Scottish bagpiper. A great time was had by all!
